Introduction
In this post, you will learn what is Ophcrack and how the tool works. This post is just an overview of the tool and I have written a post on how to work with this tool, A step by step guide. The post is available in the hacking tools menu.
What is Ophcrack?
Ophcrack is a compromising tool that is written in c and c++ languages and the tool effectively works on windows. The tool can just crack the passwords of Windows OS computers.
This tool is very similar to Kon boot and hiern’s boot cd. Because all these tools I mentioned should physically access the targeted website and then only the Ophcrack tool can be used. Unless the user is not physically near to the target the tool is worthless.

So, the Ophcrack tool can be widely used by hackers and also some pentester. Mostly this tool will be used on military bases because the network in the military will be offline so, the only way a hacker can get the information is by physically gaining information by using this tool.
This tool is open-source software that is freely available on its official site. I have personally used Kon boot and other similar tools to Ophcrack but this tool is very effective. Comparing to other premium subscriptions on boot I Prefer the Ophcrack free version.

How Ophcrack works?
This is a very interesting part. Firstly the hacker just wants to go to the Ophcrack official site and just download the software and burn it on a cd or burn it in a bootable flash drive. Once it’s done, Very good. Step 1 is finished.
Now the hacker should go near to a targeted computer and insert the cd or the flash drive and get inside as a guest and open the Ophcrack in the drive and just run it and the tool will capture every admin in the computer and passwords surely will be in hash type and the toll will solve the hash type password by running rainbow technique.
Which tool do I prefer?
If you are excited about using the tool then why are you waiting to just download and use it? But use for the legal purpose only, I suggest Ophcrack to use and it is giving features as the premium version of kon boot.
